GARDEN PAVILION
LOCATION: Summerville, SC
CLIENT: Private
AREA: 450 SF
STATUS: Complete
YEAR: 2023
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: Remark Studio
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER: K.M. Powell Engineering
DESCRIPTION: This project was designed to complement a previously completed single-family residence. The owners purchased the vacant corner lot adjacent to their new house with the intent of transforming it into a thoughtfully articulated outdoor amenity. This pavilion, being the only built structure on the new parcel, is meant to act as a visual and programmatic anchor for this effort. It is a simple 15’-0” x 30’-0” 3-bay structure, with a small, curved storage volume towards the west end. The reductive detailing and delicate nature of the garden pavilion presents a counterpoint to the overtly sculptural and monolithic forms that define the main structure. Color and material serve as the common thread between house and accessory structure.
